Hitsujian

Our final guesthouse is Hitsuji-an.

Hitsuji-an is at one end of a traditional row of machiya townhouses. Unlike the other machiya guesthouses we visited, this one still has an udatsu firewall rising above the roofline between it and its neighbor. Along the street runs a stone wall, topped by traditional wooden latticework.
